"I didn’t just learn about crisis from a textbook; I’ve lived it alongside my patients and my family. Born and raised in Portland, my career was forged in pediatric and adult critical care, where I managed patients on life support. In those high-stakes environments, I fell in love with the art form of medication selection—balancing the precision of pharmacology with the immediate needs of the human spirit. Today, that critical care background ensures that safety and the complex interplay between the human body and mental health are always top of mind.
My move into Psychiatric Mental Health was a calling shaped by my life outside the hospital as a gay man, a husband of over 17 years, and an adoptive parent to a neurodivergent child. I understand firsthand the complexities of trauma, identity, and the delicate way our bodies hold the stress of our modern world. Whether in an inpatient unit or an outpatient clinic, my goal is to provide a space where you are seen and safe, not just diagnosed.
To stay grounded, I am a lifelong student who finds balance through jogging, strength training, work in my garden, and restoring my 100-year-old home. I cherish time with my husband and son, whether we are playing soccer or exploring our great state in our camper—from the Central Oregon high desert and the Cascades to storm-watching on the coast. I look forward to helping you navigate your path toward wellness with care that is local, lived-in, and deeply empathetic."

I earned my Master of Science in Nursing and completed my advanced practice psychiatric training at Frontier Nursing University, receiving my board certification in psychiatry through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Prior to specializing in psychiatry, I spent over a decade working as an an adult critical care registered nurse in intense, high-pressure environments, which is in addition to dedicated clinical time in pediatric intensive care at major children's hospitals as well as crossing training in emergency medicine. Additionally, my psychiatric training includes clinical time within high-acuity inpatient psychiatry and psychiatric emergency services at the Unity Center for Behavioral Health, where I specialized in crisis stabilization, rapid evaluation, and managing severe acute presentations. This background has provided me with a sophisticated understanding of the intersection between complex physical health and psychiatric wellness.
This extensive background shapes my specialized clinical interests, allowing me to provide expert, trauma-informed care tailored to neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD and autism spectrum conditions, as well as providing dedicated, affirming care for LGBTQIA+ populations and minority groups. I am deeply committed to helping individuals navigate the complexities of severe stress, trauma histories, depression, and anxiety.
An essential part of providing high-quality clinical care is understanding the limitations of an outpatient psychiatric setting and recognizing when a patient's needs require highly specialized or higher levels of care. To ensure absolute patient safety and clinical efficacy, I maintain clear professional boundaries regarding the scope of my practice. For individuals requiring intensive addiction and substance abuse treatment, specialized eating disorder programs, or specific non-pharmacological OCD treatments and specialized psychotherapies, I actively facilitate a referral out to dedicated programs and trusted specialists who possess the exact resources necessary for those conditions.
